Learn the basics of DIY dipping with us!
What you need:
- Dip Liquids (Base, Activator, and Top Coat)
- Dip Powders
- 100/180 File
- Cuticle Pusher or E-file
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Cupcake Liner (Optional)
- Stiff Brush (Optional)
- Toothpicks (Optional)
Step 1 - Nail Prep + Bond
Prep your nails by gently removing the cuticles. You can use a cuticle pusher or an e-file. After pushing your cuticle back apply bond or rubbing alcohol to remove any excess oil. This will help your dip last up to three weeks!
Step 2 - Apply Base + Dip
Carefully apply a thin layer of base to your nail. Immediately dip your nail into the powder at a 45-degree angle. If you are working with glitters pour the glitter into a cupcake liner and gently lay your nail flat onto the glitter.
PRO-TIP: Use a stiff brush to remove any excess powders!
Step 3 - Repeat!
Apply base to your nail and dip again. Repeat until you reach your desired color opacity.
Pro-Tip: Use a toothpick to go over your cuticle line to prevent lifting!
Step 4 - Apply Activator + Shapping
Generously apply your favorite activator and wait until it hardens (approx. 2 minutes). Then file and shape your nail as desired.
Step 5. - Top Coat + Nailfie
Wipe your nails with rubbing alcohol. If you are using sealer activate again and wait 2 minutes. Alternatively, you can use your favorite top and apply it like normal.
You are all set! Take some nailfies and tag us at @sunkissedandco because we want to see your gorgeous mani!!
